The Throckmortons

The Reverend Robert Monroe Throckmorton, Jr, DMn. (“Bob”) was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 23 1955.  While growing up, Bob  attended Corinth UMC in Sandston, VA.  Bob graduated from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond in 1977 and was ordained Deacon in the Virginia Conference in 1978.  He graduated from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond in 1981 with a Doctorate of Ministry degree, and was ordained an Elder in the Virginia Conference in 1982.  Bob and Patti, along with sons, Aaron & Ryan, came to Nelson Church in June 1984, shortly after the merger of the four point circuit was completed.  The Throckmorton’s then moved to St. Matthews UMC in Goochland Co., where their third son, Joshua, was born.  Bob retired after 37 years under appointment in June, 2015 and now lives with his beloved wife in Stephens City, VA.  Last year, Bob accepted a part-time appointment at the Gainesboro UMC, near Winchester, VA.

Patricia Mahtar (“Patti”), became Mrs. Throckmorton on August 7, 1976 after luring Bob with popcorn while working at King’s Dominion during the summer of 1975.  Patti graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, Summa Cum Laude, in 1978 with a teaching degree and certified in Special Education. Patti has taught with distinction in Virginia for 29 years and taught at Sherando High School for the past 20 years.  Patti is planning on retiring this fall.
